 營運福島第一核電廠的東京電力公司前晚公苫，在上周一和周二從核電廠五處地方抽取的泥土樣本中，有兩個檢驗出三種鐶原料，即鐶 238、鐶 239和鐶 240。當中鐶 239可用來核武。
雖然烏龍百出的東電堅稱，土壤驗出的鐶含量極低，只相當于北韓和中國核試後輻射塵飄到日本的程度，不會影響人體健康。但鐶是核武原料，毒性超強可致骨癌血癌，半衰期可長達 24,000年，即需要極長時間才能在環境中分解，在人體內更會長期逗留，對人體的危害比碘、銫等放射物更嚴重，更足以禍延子孫。
台灣輻射安全促進會理事謝婉華更指，如果鐶污染滲透到地下水，情勢就更為惡劣，日本當局可能必須關閉核電廠廠區，花數十年時間清理這場核污染。
土壤驗出鐶，日本內閣官房長官枝野幸男指，是反映了眼用含鐶燃料的 3號反應堆燃料棒，已因高溫持續不降出現熔毀，情況十分嚴重；原子力安全保安院更首次以「非常擔憂」形容這場核災，反映情勢嚴重。
反應堆持續高溫，臣管核電廠內反應堆上周三開始出現輻射積水，令「福島 50人」的兩員雙腳中輻射灼傷，東電連日來也未能清理輻射積水，儲存輻射水的冷凝器更有滿瀉之患，輻射水前日更已流出反應堆外的深溝，但原子力安全保安院昨決定，現在繼續射水降溫比起清理積水更重要。
可是此著存在令輻射進一步擴散的風險──輻射水將繼續滲入土壤，更有可能流出海洋。最新讀數又顯示，核電廠附近海水污染仍在方圓 20公里範圍，但北面海水污染已擴散了 1.6公里。
既要射水降溫，又有核輻射擴散危險，當局兩難之下，惟有派員在場內築起臨時防堤、在離岸 50至 70米的維修管道內堆放沙包，控制管內水位，又在排水系統放置沙包及混凝土磚，防止輻射水滲入土壤、流出海洋。
土壤、海水有核污染，輻射塵更越吹越遠。日本南部九州地區首次檢測到放射性物質，當局在西部佐賀市雨水中驗到微量放射性碘 131，一平方米範圍的含量大約是 1.8貝可，約相當于一個人每年由大自然界接受的輻射量 100萬分之一，說對健康沒有影響。
日本這場核災，由 311地震(專題)和海嘯震毀沖毀福島第一核電廠、 312核廠發生第一次爆炸起，至昨日 18天仍無解救跡象。棺直人昨在地震(專題)後首次現身國會接受議員質詢，他除了就 312到核電廠視察疑令拯救核災錯失黃金時機道歉外，還承認今次是日本二戰以來甚至史上最嚴重的災難。

Girl, 11, lured into a park restroom and 'gang raped by seven teens from a street gang'

A 19-year-old gang member wanted by police over the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl by seven teenagers was captured on Monday.
Michael Sykes was arrested at a house in Moreno Valley in California, close to where the attack took place.
The six others allegedly involved in the gang rape, all juveniles, were arrested shortly after the crime was reported.
The six boys are all over 14 and may be charged as adults, police said.
The incident happened at Victoriano Park on March 10. The young victim was lured into the park's bathroom by an older girl, say police.
Moreno Valley police Lt. Chad Bianco said gang members frequently gang rape female members as part of an initiation, but this case was unusual because it targeted an innocent victim.
The 11-year-old girl was at a shopping centre close by when she was approached by the older girl, who she knew, Mr Bianco said.
The older girl, who has also been arrested, led the victim to Victoriano Park where the boys and Sykes were waiting for her, police said.
Sheriff's Investigator Matt Diaz said that no further details were immediately available on the case.
He added that it's not uncommon for the department to avoid giving out details of a case right after it happens because it could jeopardise the investigation.
 
The case is the second time in a month in which a girl has been raped at an Inland-area park in California.
In February, three boys were arrested after a middle school student in Banning told police that a boy sexually assaulted her while the two others held her down at Roosevelt Williams Park.
The boys and the victim attended nearby Nicolette Middle School, the Sheriff's Department said.
But unlike that incident, the assault in Moreno Valley is gang-related, said Capt. John Anderson, chief of the Moreno Valley station.
The six juveniles who were caught belonged to a street gang in the town, he added.
Mr Anderson said the park and surrounding neighbourhoods do not have a high-crime reputation and he called the rape an isolated incident, pe.com reports.
Mr Anderson said: 'As a father - even as a police officer - there are crimes that shock us. This is one of them.'
He added that deputies acted quickly after the crime was reported and that the six suspects were swiftly rounded up.
Sheriff Stan Sniff called the incident 'despicable.'
He said: 'It shocks you to your core. It never ceases to amaze me how vicious these things can be."
Victoriano Park is listed on the city's website as one of 28 parks in Moreno Valley that have security lighting.
